Planting and care for cherry saplings
Site Selection:
Site selection. Cherries thrive best in sunny, wind-protected areas. They prefer loose, well-drained soil. "Giant RED" is very hardy and adapts well to different soil types, even sandy soils.
Preparing the planting hole:
Dig a hole 60-80 cm wide and 50-60 cm deep. Add a mixture of fertile soil and compost at the bottom to nourish the root system.
Planting the sapling:
Gently place the sapling in the center of the hole, spreading the roots evenly. Fill in the hole and gently tamp the soil around the roots to eliminate air pockets. The root collar should be level with or slightly above the soil surface.
Tree care:
After planting, water with 1-2 buckets of water. This helps the roots settle and improves transplant success. To retain moisture and suppress weeds, mulch around the base of the tree with wood chips or straw.
